An international supplement has been included since the beginning of 2003. motivated schoolAlan McLean ,who developed the Motivated School idea, embarked on the above project with the Scottish Goverment who sent out a copy of his book to every school in Scotland. The publication was well received and several local authorities carried out an evaluation of its impact in their schools including Renfrewshire.

However I am of the opnion that before we consider the motivated school  we must first of all look at the motivated teacher. Alan highlights in his LTS presentation that we cannot motivate pupils – a thought I do share with him and would add further that we have to inspire pupils for this is what then motivates them to change their thinking.

In the publication a really good teacher self evaluation form was produced and it may be good for us all to engage with it and just see how motivated we are.

NB The x/y axis lines are only partially named – x axis should have ” c” at the left and “a” at the right “o” and “p” are named on the y axis.

TIP I would erase the a-c-o-p letters on page 54 in the left hand margin as it would provided a better true self evaluation  – I would provide the scoring in a powerpoint slide after teacher had completed the self assessment.
